The Shoe 

How many times have you heard the phrase, "Walk a mile in my shoes"?  Shoes are an essential part of life and are also a huge necessity.  Many people take wearing shoes for granted and there are many who can’t afford a pair of shoes themselves.  It is interesting to wonder why we, in today’s society, need different kinds and types of shoes. 

Why don’t we only own one pair?  It seems that ever since I started photographing images that the majority of my pictures were focused around shoes.  I could not tell you why but apparently it’s my go-to article of clothing.  There are a huge variety of shoes in the world and it fascinates me to see the different distinctions between the styles.  

For my documentary project, I decided to capture a variety of styles of shoes and match each shoe with a personality trait, or character.  I find that people are drawn to their own style and enjoy displaying their eclectic traits in the form of clothing and accessories.   While working on this project, I found that every shoe I borrowed from my friends displayed their personality perfectly.  I also decided to incorporate some accompanying background scenery just to reinforce my idea. 

An Outdoorsman 
Always up for an adventure, the outdoorsman travels far and wide to find a sense of himself and figure out who he really is as a human being.  His cunning and knowledge of the wild help him accomplish many feats. 

A Rebel
The Rebel almost always goes against the grain.  With no regard for social norms and constraints, the Rebel does what he or she pleases and doesn't worry about the consequences. 

A Risk-taker
"Just do it" would be a fantastic way to describe the Risk-taker.  With a strong and willful attitude, the Risk-taker sees no limits of what he or she can accomplish. 

A Creature of Comfort
Focused mainly on being at ease and at peace, the Creature of Comfort finds a way to strain and stress him or herself and just live in the moment, while still remaining comfortable.  

A Person of Class
This classy individual likes to have a good time but still keep his or her composure and air about them.  Their elegant aura and high-class attitude help them succeed and tackle of of life's problems.
 

A Prepared Individual
There is nothing bad about a person who is always prepared for the worst.  Their knowledge and wit help them conquer all life has to throw their way and the do it was ease.

A Professional
The Professional is always poised and focused and never strays from the path of success.  Focused on getting the job done, the Professional knows the way to succeed.  

An Athlete 
The Athlete needs to be active at all times of the day.  Always up for a quick game, the athlete can never pass up on an opportunity to win.

A Drunk
Down for a good time, you can usually find the Drunk passed out by 3 in the afternoon after a long night/day of binge drinking.  

A Native
With bright colors and leather, the Native sticks to his or her roots and does what traditions says.  Focused around their culture, the Native knows where they came from and who they are as a person.
