Life of Antony

         The subject of this documentary is Antony Mathew. The subsequent photographs will follow this individual as he proceeds throughout his daily routine. However, this day differs from most. There is a playoff soccer game that must be won along with a few other commitments. Aware of his busy schedule, the subject decides to begin the day with his favorite meal. It is important to point out that Antony does not cook much, but when he does, it is always Chicken Tikka Masala.  The Chicken Tikka Masala dish is a very popular Indian meal which includes a yogurt-based sauce mixed with chicken and sometimes rice; protein and carbohydrates that are essential for any athlete. However, in regard to soccer, Antony has developed a deep admiration for Gonzalo Higuain. This soccer player is a native of Argentina, the country where Antony spent his semester abroad. During his four months in South America, the subject developed a strong appreciation for the culture. Interestingly, the most rewarding aspect of the entire experience , in his opinion, was his introduction to soccer. The semester abroad greatly improved his ability to goaltend….in fact, Antony has even developed a particular pregame ritual. The following photographs will demonstrate this brief routine that has proven to give Antony some luck in the past, or so he believes. It is reasonable to say Antony’s semester in Argentina had certainly improved his general knowledge in soccer. During his spare time he enjoys watching professional goaltenders from whose form he mimics. You will notice in some of the photographs that has Antony taken these observations into practice. As soon as the game finished, the subject rests on the couch to watch his favorite college basketball team, the Florida Gators. He watched the game for about thirty minutes when he suddenly realized the amount of school work he had yet to complete. Antony has been a Pre-Med student for four years now so long nights of studying are nothing foreign to him. With the completion of his work, Antony had finally found some time to rest.

The subject begins the day with his favorite meal.

   After having collected all the necessary equipment, Antony is prepared to begin perhaps the most important game of his life.

Goalkeepers must always test their gloves to make sure they fit securely. (Part of pregame ritual). Some goalies go as far as to spit on the glove so that catching is made easier. 

This specific type of indoor soccer includes a rare soccer ball (Futsal).

 This is a particular form that goalkeepers must assume in order to deter high speed soccer shots.

Instead of trying to catch the shot, Antony hits the ball away to avoid any risk of it going through his hands.

 Just as Antony was about to sit down and relax, he realizes he has yet to complete his homework. 

He begins by lying out all the relevant textbooks and handouts.

  

After approximately five hours, Antony can finally rest in bed watching the highlights from the Florida game.
