“Wilson the Football”
Wilson is important to me as I have had him since I was a Freshman in High School. I have brought Wilson on every family vacation with me and he has been in one ocean, six lakes, and four rivers. Because I have had this football for so long, it has in a way become a part of me. With that in mind I have chosen to take Wilson and place him in situations that emulate a general day of mine. The following photographs are an abstract depiction that really describe me, through a football that I have had for years.

Here is Wilson driving to get food. This is an important part of his day as he will need
energy to keep him going for the rest of the day. Wilson is sure to wear his seat belt to avoid
getting hurt in case he gets in an accident. One staple of Wilson’s personality are his sunglasses
that he always wears.

This is Wilson relaxing in a tree outside of his townhouse. Wilson loves to climbs trees
and is something he has been doing since he was a young football. Wilson spends at least a half
hour a day perched in his favorite tree. From his tree he is able to keep an eye on all of the
townhouses as well as get some color on sunny days.
|
 |
Here is Wilson at his favorite restaurant, Chipotle. Wilson always gets a chicken burrito
and chips with guacamole. No matter where Wilson eats he always enjoys a cold lemonade.
This is Wilson taking some of his friends out to enjoy a burrito on this sunny day.
|
 |
It is important for Wilson to keep up on his studies as he is an active student preparing
to graduate in May. Wilson religiously spends at least two hours a day doing homework and
studying for upcoming tests and quizzes.
|
 |
In addition to his other activities, Wilson also enjoys playing video games. Wilson plays
sports games with his friends but his favorite game is NHL 13 (surprisingly not a football game).
|
 |
A major portion of Wilson’s day is going to the gym to maintain his physique. As seen
here, Wilson works hard with the “lace roller” to be sure and keep a toned midsection for the
upcoming beach season. Wilson generally works out two hours a day and says it keeps him
sane.
|
 |
After a hard workout Wilson enjoys sitting back and enjoying a beer in the recliner in his
room. Wilson’s favorite beer is pictured here, Labatt Blue. Wilson said that this “is absolutely
my favorite part of the day. After a full day of work, play, and the gym it’s important to find a
little me time and that is how I do it.”
|
 |
Part of being a good roommate is helping out with chores around the house. Wilson
does this by cleaning the dishes most nights of the week, as seen here. Wilson believes the
separation of chores is what keeps such a good and positive environment alive in his
townhouse.
|
 |
An individual chore that Wilson must do is laundry. Although he doesn’t normally wear
clothes, he does occasionally wear outfits that need to be cleaned.
After a long day of work and play Wilson retires his sunglasses and gets into bed.
Wilson tries to get a full eight hours most nights but is not always able to due to his early class
schedule. By the time Wilson is done with his daily activities it is usually around midnight, so
eight hours are not always a possibility. It is important for him to get rest so he will have
enough energy to go through all of these again tomorrow.

I thought that the "Wilson the Football" project was done very well. It reflected a day in the life of this person but had a twist in the project being that Wilson was the main character in the documentary. I also liked how the author used something that was important to him for his project, which has followed him throughout his life since freshman year in high school. Overall, i enjoyed reading through the documentary.
ReplyDeleteThis blog was really entertaining and funny. My favorite photos were the one of Wilson studying at his desk, working out and tucked into bed at night. This is a great and original idea. The post overall was fun but there also is a little bit of a deeper story, with the closeness of this object and a look into the author's daily life.
ReplyDeleteMaking your own character was cool and the pictures made me want to get to know Wilson a little more. I like that he does all of the same things I do but was kind of expecting him to play football. I also liked reading through it and it made me wonder how you thought of this.
ReplyDeleteThis project was great. "Wilson's" life is like an everyday life of an ordinary kid in college with the studying, gym, video games, etc. It had a great story to it and was very entertaining.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually really funny. Basically doing your own 'day in the life' documentary vicariously through a football is genius. I enjoyed the concept a lot.
ReplyDeleteRight when I looked at this project I started to smile. This is done very well and I got a kick out of it for the images were very creative. I like how you portrayed yourself though something that meant a lot to you! My favorite image is Wilson working out! Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteGreat project, really well done, and very entertaining!! Very creative to give the football his own character! I like that you picked to write about "a friend" that means a lot to you and that you have history with! Good Work!!
ReplyDeleteI really thought this was a great idea. Doing a day in the life of a character was pretty funny. I really enjoyed the picture of Wilson relaxing with a beer as well as the one of him doing the dishes. This project was pretty humorous and I liked it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThis project made me smile. It was very creative. I liked the way the colors contrasted against each other and all the different angles you took the photos at.
ReplyDeleteI really love this project. I respect your love for Wilson because I have the same passion for basketball and honestly any basketball is my friend. The pictures are really nice and the project as a whole is very creative. I really like the picture of Wilson working on his abs with the wheel.
ReplyDeleteThis was a really good idea to bring the Wilson to life. It's cool how he has sunglasses on, it gives it the extra effect. These ideas are really good, its almost like he is a real college student. I thought the best one was when Wilson is doing the dishes.
ReplyDeleteThe story behind this blog is really interesting because it brings a part of you into it from years ago with a different perspective. You could really get the sense of your day with the use of Wilson instead of have self portraits, which I thought was a nice spin on things. Some of the angles in the photos really helped show what Wilson was doing. I liked the picture of the football doing homework because even though the notebook is not in focus, a person gets a clear understanding on what he is supposed to be doing. Also, since it is taken from behind instead of having the laces on the football show, it gave a different perspective as if you were watching him do the work. Overall, I really think this blog captured a day in your life and it was well done.
ReplyDeleteThis was a highly entertaining and informative documentary on a day in the life of Wilson. I really enjoyed the pictures of him in the car, working out, and doing the dishes. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteIf there is one thing that the author succeeds in doing is keeping the reader interested. I was very curious to see where the ball would end up next. Overall it was entertaining, humorous, and creative.
ReplyDeleteIntersesting concept, Michael. Great move bringing it to Chipotle with you. Many people wouldn't come up with this concept and I think it worked out well and you made it very unique. I like the idea of the sunglasses giving the football a personality and some sort of face. Good work!
