My Scars and I

Your wounds and scars are what make you. They are a part of you and something you will have to live with the rest of your life. For me I have had four surgeries. Two ACL and meniscus, one shoulder and one cartilage/micro fracture repair in my knee.

Even though my scars bring bad memories, I am proud of them, they show what I have had to overcome to get to where I am at today. They will always be with me throughout whatever exercises I choose whether it is running, swimming or playing soccer.

Soccer is the cause for all of my surgies, but it is something I love. I would never give it up for the world. I would not be who I am today if it was not for soccer to push me and help me be the competitor that I am today.

There might be a possibility that you can find us sun bathing in the quad. This is where we attempt to do homework but end up falling asleep with our shades on. There is a good chance if you do not find us soaking up the sun we will be sitting inside saga, where we will forever Saga sit.

Later in the day, after falling asleep in the sun, and Saga siting for some amount of time, we will resign to our room where lots of chocolate can be found surrounding us, not thinking about all the work we have to do for the rest of the night.

Eventually though, homework has to get done. We can be found lounging on our futon reading, highlighting away. A lot of our time we spend in Foy Hall, working away on some sort of upcoming project whether it is for Basic Design, Photography or Reporting.

On some nights nights we might go out to eat and dress up real nice. You know, dress to impress. These are always fun to get away and have a great time with friends.

Then to end the perfect night we all go back, wash up and brush our teeth. This way we can be comfy and ready for bed.

My friends and family are always there for me to lean on. Through my ups and downs they see me through everything. My scars have been through it all with me, they are a part of me, and there is way more to come. I cannot wait!

  1. The thing i liked most about this project was that it was something that was personal for the author. I believe that she has made her scares her own and accepted that they are apart of her which is great. My favorite picture out of the documentary would be the picture of the night out being dressed to impress. Overall, i thought that the project was done very well and it is sentimental for the author.

  2. The creativity is pretty cool for this blog. Giving your knees personalities was something I couldn't think of but I wonder how you took your pictures? Also I'm confused do you mean scars or scares? Dope pics though.

  4. Loved the creativity behind each of the photos. Really adds character! Writing about something personal to oneself really helps the reader feel the emotion behind what you have been through! Good Work!

  5. These are the bee's knees of documentary pictures. It took the aspect of life if peoples faces were on their knees. As they carried out their normal daily routines in the day. My favorite picture is when the knees are eating their meals.

  6. I really loved how creative this was. I was a little confused as well on if you meant scars or scares, but regardless this turned out great. My favorite picture would probably be the one of the knees in the bathroom with the lotion and toothpaste. I liked how all of this turned out.

  7. This is funny and really creative. In a way it was a portrait project because you gave your knees a personality. By the way you spelled scars wrong.

  8. This is such an awesome idea! Very creative and funny. Doing essentially a 'day in the life' documentary about your knees/scars is something I would have never thought to do. And the personality behind the photos is very endearing!

  9. This is an extremely creative and funny project. My favorite photos are the ones of the scars at Saga, out to dinner, and getting ready for bed. It seems like you put a lot of thought and effort into this and it definitely paid off.

  11. Very original idea! I enjoy the photo with the computer in the foreground as it captures the eye through great composition. Also, in the last photo I like the way you took the portrait photography with the black blurred out background, well shot.

  12. I think it is really cool how you made it seem like your scars were telling the story. The idea of giving them glasses while tanning and reading was funny, Every scar always has a good story to go with it.

  13. I thought that this blog was very interesting and comical. It was a good idea to use a part of you that usually is seen as a flaw, and you turned it around to make it stand out in a good way. The quality of the photos were nice and clear. I especially like the one where they are having a date because of the lighting from the candle and just the all around setup for it. I would say this is a job well done!

  14. I thought this blog was really funny and caught my attention because it was really creative how you gave your knees there own personality to tell a story. I like how you took a bad experience and made it into a funny personal story, something that we can all laugh about. The pictures are really clear and the quality of the photos I would say meet this projects expectations.

  15. I found this documentary to be a very interesting storyline. I have many scars from surgeries as well, and it allowed me to connect with your pictures. I thought that giving your knees funny faces helped in connecting who you are as a person. My favorite picture of all was the last one where you explain how your friends and family has been there through everything. Very good job!

  16. Fantastic idea and cool storyline! Very creative and fun, this unique display demonstrates many personalities and shows how yes, you can get a scar, but it doesn't have to be the worst thing ever, you can have a little fun with it. Nice work!
